Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene
Mission Statement
Our Mission Statement answers the fundamental question "Why do we exist as a church?"
The Mission of the Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene is to make disciples for Christ through the power of his Holy Spirit.
(Matthew 28:19-20 and Acts 1:8)
Core Values
Our Core Values answer the question "What guiding principles govern how we fulfill our mission?" These take into consideration the unique mix of spiritual gifts and passions found in our congregation at this particular time, the dynamics of the community in which we minister, and the peculiar theological tradition of which we are a part. There are many good ways to fulfill the Great Commission. We want to use the ways that are best suited to who we are.
1. We value the wonderfully diverse Family of God and our immediate and extended families of which it is composed.
-
Our ministries must welcome the lonely and isolated sinner into the loving embrace of the Family of God
-
Our ministries must actively knit together the generations of our church family.
-
Our ministries are especially focused on nurturing the spiritual lives of our children from birth through young adulthood, that they might become mature Christian adults.
-
Our ministries must empower Christian adults to be spiritual mentors for our young people. We especially encourage parents to be the primary spiritual mentors for their own children.
2. We value the most needy of our community
-
Our ministries must be among the poor, as they are a part of who we are as a church.
-
Our ministries must meet the needs of our community by providing transformational resources leading to lifelong health and productivity.
-
Our ministries must empower individual Christians to become salt and light in our community through involvement in other community organizations that make our town a better place in which to live.
3. We value the transforming power of God that leads the spiritually lost into a new life of holiness.
-
Our ministries must direct every seeker to the Word of God.
-
Our ministries must challenge Christians to experience God's holiness in their daily lives.
-
Our ministries must empower Christians to share their faith in God with others through a holy lifestyle.
